Certified Supply Chain Management
New! Certified Supply Chain Professional Program
In October 2005, APICS announced a new certification program targeted towards advanced supply chain management concepts. During the first year, more than 1500 individuals achieved this exciting new certification! The Cincinnati chapter is pleased to be on the front end of the exciting new program, offering live instructor-led preparation courses to help you achieve this certification.
For more information on the certification requirements and program, you may refer to www.apics.org/CSCP refer to the CSCP brochure, or review the FAQ list below.
I already have (or am working towards) CPIM/CIRM? Why would I need this? While there is some overlap between CPIM and CSCP, CPIM is focused much more on the internal operations of a firm, while CSCP extends the view to suppliers, customers, and the technology aspects of managing the extended enterprise. What is required to obtain this certification? You must pass a single exam. The exam consists of 175 multiple choice questions, and is 4 hours in duration. In order to take the test, you must complete a pre-qualification application roughly 6-8 weeks in advance. The pre-qualification application requires listing 2 years of relevant experience and either a college degree or previous APICS certification. Alternatively, you may qualify with 5 years of relevant experience.
When/where are the tests? At this time, there are typically only 3-4 test dates offered per year. The closest exam cities currently are Columbus and Dayton. In 2009, we expect much more frequent and convenient test schedules, though there are no official announcements yet. In addition, the exams are pencil and paper, with a roughly 4-6 week delay in scoring. The Cincinnati chapter offers instructor-led prep classes scheduled to coincide with every exam offering.
What materials are available for preparing? APICS has partnered with Holmes Corporation to develop a complete Learning System. The Learning System consists of four textbooks (over 800 combined pages), plus one year of access to an online program. The online program includes a number of practice tests and electronic flash cards, plus graphs showing your progress and test scoring by module.
What are the anticipated costs for this certification? The APICS member discounts more than exceed the annual cost of an APICS membership, so all costs below are for APICS members:
| Exam fee |
$550 |
(required) |
| Learning System |
$895 |
(optional, recommended) |
| Review classes |
$600 |
(optional) |
Cincinnati package deal—Learning system and review classes for a combined price of $1200 per student.
How long should I expect this to take? There will obviously be a great deal of individual variation, but typically expect to devote between 60-120 hours of study to prepare for the exam. Our review classes are approximately 36 hours long, and designed to supplement the self-study Learning System.
How do I sign up for classes and/or the package deal? The complete class schedule and registration information will be available at http://www.apics-cincy.org/education.cfm.
